Tutorial Fellowships in Philosophy

We are delighted to announce that during the course of this academic year, the Oxford Philosophy Faculty will be making appointments to four permanent posts, to be filled with effect from 1 October 2011. These posts are joint appointments between the Faculty and a College, and in each case the successful candidate will hold a University Lecturership (CUF) in the Faculty and a Tutorial Fellowship in the College. The combined College and University salary in each case will be on a scale up to £57,201 per annum (as at 1 August 2010), and additional College allowances are available.

  • University Lecturership (CUF) and Tutorial Fellowship in association with Corpus Christi College. Applications are now invited for this post. It is a requirement of the post that the successful candidate be able to provide research-led teaching, undergraduate and graduate, in one or more of: moral philosophy; epistemology; metaphysics; philosophy of language; philosophy of mind. The deadline for receipt of applications is 12noon on 5 January 2011. An advert and further particulars can be found here.
  • University Lecturership (CUF) and Tutorial Fellowship in association with Magdalen College. It will be a requirement of this post that the successful candidate be able to provide research-led teaching, undergraduate and graduate, in one or more of: moral philosophy; epistemology; metaphysics; philosophy of language; philosophy of mind. Candidates who have already applied for the post at Corpus Christi College and who also wish to apply for the post at Magdalen can ask for their CV, writing samples, and letters of reference to be used again for the post at Magdalen, but will be required to submit a new covering letter. Further details about how to make this request – and about the specific teaching requirements and selection criteria for the post – will be made available in the further particulars which – together with the advert – will appear before the Christmas break or early in the New Year.
  • University Lecturership (CUF) and Tutorial Fellowship in association with Worcester College. It will be a requirement of this post that the successful candidate be able to provide research-led teaching, undergraduate and graduate, in ancient philosophy (Plato and Aristotle). Further details about the specific teaching requirements and selection criteria for this post will be made available in the further particulars which – together with the advert – will appear early in the New Year.
  • University Lecturership (CUF) and Tutorial Fellowship in association with Trinity College. The deadline for this post has now passed. It is a requirement of the post that the successful candidate be able to provide research-led teaching in Kant’s theoretical philosophy at both undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates who have been short-listed for this post will be informed towards the end of the second week of January 2011, and invited to Oxford for interview and to deliver a job talk on 31 January and 1 February 2011.
