Professor Savulescu receives two awards

Julian Savulescu has received two awards, including one from the Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd. On June 17, Professor Savulescu received an award from 'The Weekend Australian Magazine', which was presented by the Australian Prime Minister. He won the category for the top emerging thinker in their series 'The Next 100 Emerging Leaders'. There are ten categories and a winner in each category.

The week previously, he received a Monash Distinguished Alumni Award. His nomination was supported by Professor Peter Singer, who was his PhD supervisor. He said: "Since Monash University's own involvement in the development of in vitro fertilization, progress in the biomedical sciences has continued to pose ethical, legal and social issues that are important for the entire world. In that field, Julian Savulescu is playing an important international role."
