Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships Appointments

The Faculty of Philosophy is delighted to announce the appointment of two Mellon Postdoctoral Fellows involving Philosophy.

Márta Abrusán (Institut Jean Nicod, ENS, Paris) has been appointed, with effect from 1 October 2009, to a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Semantics. This post, which is held jointly with the Oxford Faculty of Linguistics, Philology, and Phonetics, is associated with Somerville College.

Elizabeth Schechter (University of Maryland) has been appointed, with effect from 1 October 2009, to a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Philosophy of Cognitive Science. This post is associated with Corpus Christi College.

Both fellowships involve elements of teaching and research and are tenable for two years. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships are designed to provide an intensive and supported career development opportunity for outstanding academics at an early stage in their career, and to promote equality of opportunity by helping to create a more diverse pool of potential candidates for future academic posts at Oxford or elsewhere.

The Faculty of Philosophy acknowledges with gratitude the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation [http://www.mellon.org/].
