John Locke Lecturers

We are delighted to announce that Professor John Cooper will give the John Locke Lectures in Oxford in 2010/11 and that Professor Stephen Yablo will give the lectures in 2011/12.

John Cooper is Stuart Professor of Philosophy at Princeton. He works in areas of ancient and contemporary ethics.

Stephen Yablo is Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy and Linguistics at MIT. He works on identity, essence, causation, intrinsicness, paradox, metaphor, properties, existence, definition, conceivability, and truth.

The next series of John Locke Lectures will be given in Trinity Term 2009 by Tim Scanlon, Alford Professor of Natural Religion, Moral Philosophy, and Civil Polity, Harvard. Further details will appear on this website shortly.

In Trinity Term 2010 the lectures will be given by David Chalmers, Professor of Philosophy at the Australian National University and Director of the Centre for Consciousness.
